It's time to get back to work. And excited to do so. I'm in need of a serious soaping fix. Currently in my shower are the Pumpkin, Anouhea, Buttermilk Shea and Ivory Cream. Let's just say I'm in bathing heaven right now. I am using the Ivory Cream as an in-shower lotion bar and my skin tells me it's fabulous. Definitely no dry patches to be found anywhere. Loving that a lot. The lather is lotion-like and feels silky. Of course there aren't any sudz and that was to be expected of the Ivory Cream. But one thing for sure is that it is definitely creamy. It's a winner in my book. Well off I go to the wonderful land of soap to dream up some more fabulousness. I'll be sure to keep you posted.

100% Unrefined Ivory Shea Nut Butter ...

. . . in a soap. Yes, that's right. I made soap using "only" Shea.

Dreamy, creamy ivory unrefined shea nut butter.

Ivory Cream

100% Shea Butter Soap

The properties of this soap are super conditioning and super creamy. I know this will be only mildly cleansing, because cleansing and bubbly are both at zero on this one. I hope to use this, more so, as an in-shower lotion type body bar; since Shea butter contains many non-saponifiable fats, elements that cannot be fully converted into soap, that moisturize and seal moisture into the skin after washing. I will definitely keep all updated on these ivory, creamy bars of luxurious conditioning.

All this ivory & creamy talk makes me want to make a White Ivory Cream Cake. No, I don't mind at all sharing the recipe with you.

White Ivory Cream Cake

Cake:
8 ounces white chocolate, finely chopped
3 cups sifted cake flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter (1/2 cup)
1 1/4 cups granulated sugar
3 large eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 cup plus 1 tablespoon milk

Filling and Frosting:
1 1/2 pounds white chocolate, finely chopped
2 1/2 cups heavy cream
6 tablespoons unsalted butter
1/2 cup coarsely chopped macadamia nuts
Garnish: White macadamia nuts and strawberries or raspberries

Heat oven to 350 degrees F. Butter and flour 2 (9-inch) cake pans.

Make the Cake: In a double boiler, melt the white chocolate over hot, not simmering, water. Set aside to cool slightly.

In a large bowl with an electric mixer, cream the butter and sugar. Beat in the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. On low speed, add the melted chocolate and the vanilla. In three additions, on low speed, alternately beat in the flour mixture and the milk. Beat until just smooth, about 20 seconds.

Pour the batter into the prepared pans and bake for 25 - 30 minutes or until the top is golden and a cake tester inserted in the center comes out clean. Set the cake pans on a wire rack to cool for 20 minutes. Then invert the cakes onto the racks to cool completely.

Prepare the Filling and Frosting: Place the white chocolate in a medium bowl. In a small heavy saucepan, bring 1 1/2 cups of the cream and the butter to a simmer. Pour over the chocolate. Let stand, covered, for 5 minutes, then stir until smooth. Refrigerate the white chocolate mixture until firm enough to spread, about 1 hour.

To Assemble: Spread the bottom layer with 1 cup of the chilled white chocolate mixture. Arrange the chopped macadamia nuts over the filling, and top with the second cake layer.

In a medium bowl, beat the remaining 1 cup cream until firm peaks form. Fold the whipped cream into the remaining white chocolate mixture. Spread this over the top and sides of the cake. Arrange whole macadamia nuts around the rim and base of the cake. Chill until ready to serve.

Garnish each piece with a fanned strawberry or raspberries.

This cool, soft fragrance is an incredibly unique, floral spa aroma that contains notes of gardenia, jasmine, cyclamen, lilac, hyacinth, mimosa flower, rose, muguet/lily.

This is a "whipped" cold process soap. It's the soap that floats. Made extra special with Mango Oil.

I used this same fragrance in a salt bar made with Euro mineral spa salt. Down to just a couple bars, will need to put it on my to-do list.

I am in love with this Kai rendition fragrance. It's one of my Top 3 favorite fragrances, of all time, for all year-round.

Yummy Pumpkin Soap

Real Pumpkin Puree & Spices

Goat's Milk, Shea Nut Butter,

Pumpkin Seed Oil & Clover Honey

This Yummy Pumpkin Soap

is Rich, Sweet & Buttery

with just a hint of Spice.

This soap will be ready just in time for Thanksgiving and I can hardly wait. Real Pumpkin Puree & Goat's Milk paired with 25% Unrefined Ivory Shea Butter, a touch a sweet Clover Honey, real spices of Cinnamon, Nutmeg, Clover & Allspice, superfatted with Pumpkin Seed Oil. Not to mention, the fragrance of this soap is to-die-for yummy goodness.

I must admit, this is a tricky one. You have to cross all your T's and dot all of your I's when making this one. Traces faster than a New York minute, so put down the stick blender. My whisks were my best friends on this one. Be sure to have no distractions near by. Definitely soap this one with the oils at 80-90 degrees F. and milk at 80 degrees F. Put that semi-frozen slushy Goat's Milk in an ice bath before adding the lye. I dumped the lye in all at once and it worked out just fine. My pumpkin puree was already measured and waiting for me in a mixing bowl. Speaking of measuring, everything to be added to the soap was measured out and waiting for me prior to beginning. There is not even an extra second to spare. I whisked the Goat's Milk & Lye solution into the oils, and as soon as they were combined I poured about a cup of the soap mixture into the Pumpkin Puree, whisked it smooth and added it back in. Then added the Honey, my superfatting oil and the spices at light trace. Then I gave it one last really good whisking and poured into my mold.

Once I added my Goat's Milk & Lye solution to the oils, I was ready to pour into my mold in 4-5 minutes. I used a wooden mold and did not insulate. It set up and was ready for me 24 hours later. It started out the most perfect Pumpkin Orange. It was the same color as the puree. However, as you can see in the picture above, the bars have darkened considerably since on the curing rack. I thought as they darkened I was going to be bummed out because they weren't the perfect Pumpkin Orange color they started out as in the picture to the right, but I was wrong. I actually love the darker color. When I smell this bar, with the real spices blended this particular pumpkin fragrance oil that I've used, the darker color lends itself to it. So I am satisfied.

I admit I was a bit intimidated by this one, but of course that isn't enough to stop me. I'm am so glad I made this. I already have to make a second batch because all the bars from this batch are already spoken for.

Aah Yes! The infamous "to-do" list.

Whipped Soaps. I made Frosted Pumpkin Bars and Chocolat~Lavande for the holidays last year. Both were fabulous and the Chocolat~Lavande was actually beyond fabulous. Time to make them both again for this year. Only difference, make more, lots more.

As soon as I take pics of my Pumpkin Puree soap, I will post them. Along with tips, because there is no messing around on this "gone in 60 seconds" superfast trace.

It's Fall and the cold has already begun to set in. So you know what that means, Body Butters and Body Buttercremes. This year I've added a hand & foot intensive therapy salve to the mix. I made it for a couple of the men in the family that work in the union trades, laborers and iron workers. They're hands, feet & face take a royal beating during the cold and rainy seasons. So hard hats off to them with lots of love and caring in the form of a whipped butter salve with 50% Lanolin. Of course I saved a jar for myself. It's been a skin saver and has helped my skin transition flawlessly going into Fall.

With Winter fast-approaching, I must do an expose of some of my all-natural favorites that I just can't live without: Goat's Milk, Mango Butter, Shea Butter, Lanolin, Lecithin and Jojoba Oil.

In the meantime, I went to Indianapolis last weekend for some well deserved R&R. It was my first time there and I had a blast. I'm definitely going to make plans to visit again. Hopefully, there will be more to come on this topic later. [winks]

Well, I'm off to soap my addiction and maybe squeeze in a few lip balms as well.

Creamy & Dreamy indeed!

Look at what I also made for the wee one: ribbed cotton backed with terry cloth bibs and burp clothes, soft flannel golf print backed with dot minky burp cloth and changing pad, white minky fur backed with blue & white striped chenille security blanket with matching chenille burp cloth and chenille & terry cloth bibs. All the bibs and burp clothes are reversible and wash easily in a cold gentle wash, along with the changing pad and security blanket.

I've been away for a while. Lots of traveling this summer to Ft. Lauderdale to spend time with my bff since childhood. Still have one more trip planned to visit her again before Summer ends. Meanwhile, family reunion is less than a month away. So this reunion coordinator is getting in gear to get everything done, while staying organized.

On the soapworks homefront, cold process has been on the menu for weeks now. In particular today is goats milk soap. My shop is closed this Summer but re-opening in the Fall. Not waiting till the last minute, I'm gearing up now.

A slogan that I don't use often, but hold onto dearly is
"because baths should be more than just soap water."
That's where all of my formulations begin.
My products are made to pamper, mind body & soul.

There's a criteria that all of my products must meet.
Even with my handcrafted soaps, I will enrich the base with rich & exotic butters and oils beyond the traditional shea and cocoa,
with Mango-Macadamia-Kukui-Babassu-Virgin de Coco Creme,
just to name a few.

I'm starting up production again on my heavenly milk baths made with Whole Milk Powders, Bokek Israeli Dead Sea Salts and EuroSpa European Sea Salts. Also, I'm starting production on the most luxurious Aromatherapy Bath Melts. I haven't forgotten about the men in our lives, the perfect shave cream is on it's way as well.

When you're building a brand, you must put your stamp on it and stay consistent. I never rush a batch or a process. If I'm short on time, I make time.

I absolutely am in love with what I do. Every product I make is a passionate endeavor to delight, please, enchant, indulge and satisfy.

LAIT DE COCO

Lait De Coco was made with Coconut Milk, Virgin de Coco Creme, Babassu Oil and Macadamia Oil. Very luxurious indeed. I scented it with a creamy coconut fragrance. I wish there was some way for you to scratch and sniff your screen, but until then, guess you'll have to take my word for it. It was 2 1/2 days in the mold; and I will let it dry on the rack another day before I cut.

Today I am feeling a bit pumpkiny, is that a word?, anyways, pumpkin and custard are on my taste buds, so we'll see what kind of creamy goodness I can get myself into today.

SHEA LUXERice Flower & Shea

Soul soothing luxury softly scented. This cold-process batch turned out beautifully. Shea, Cocoa, Virgin Coconut, Babassu & Macadamia are just a few of the luxurious goodies in this soap bar. The Rice Flower & Shea scent is absolutely beautiful. I am really having the hardest time ever letting this one cure on the rack. But as I've said before, Patience is Perfection.

The sun is out today and it is lovely. It warms the cold chill in the air. I wish I was in Hawaii right now, but since I'm not, I will just have to bring Hawaii to Ohio.

ENVY!Sweetgrass

Today was cold, again. Even more chilly than yesterday. So the answer to yesterday's question is Yes. The grass is greener on the other side; well at least in my case its "Sweetgrass". And I am so green with envy over the scent. Because the only one that gets to enjoy this right now is the soap bar itself. It's truly amazing and fresh. This is my nephew Miles' favorite scent. I sent him off the college with a huge enormous batch of whipped body butter in this scent. He says to me, "Auntie this is Ridiculous.," which according to a 21-year-old Sophmore means its "The Bomb." Can't wait till he comes home for a visit in 3 weeks he says, so I can stock him up on this one.

Don't get me wrong, I love Fall. It is my favorite season. I just wasn't completely ready for it, just yet. I'm wishing for at least a couple more days reminiscent of warm Spring during May. In the meantime, I decided today to indulge in some softly scented soul-soothing Luxury.

PURPLE HAZE!Patchouli & Lavender

Today was a super busy day in the Land of Soap. Organizing, getting organized, staying organized. Where's my OCD when I need it. So I unmolded Purple Haze today. Again, satisfied. Patchouli and Lavender together is so earthy and floral in every good way imagineable. If "mysterious" had a scent, it would definitely be this. I love the look of this one. The purple was swirled in, not once, not twice, but three times hoping it would look hazy and it does, appropriately so. I wish I could send samples of this one out now to all of you that know who you are, but I can't. I must wait because Perfection is Patience.

So the weather today was kind of chilly, which removed any doubt as to weather Fall has set in. How blah was it for me today to have to turn on the "heat" to take the chill off the house. But the cold wasn't enough to stop me from soaping today. Would be nice to live somewhere sunny year round. Which begs the question: Is the Grass really Greener on the other side? Because with the Winter the almanac is predicting for us this year, it does seem at least a whole lot Sweeter.

OOH SO SEXY!Sandalwood & Vanilla

This is an Olive Oil, Extra Virgin of course, Hempseed Oil & Avocado Oil Cold Process Soap. The Mysore Sandalwood and Madagascar Vanilla SMELLS INCREDIBLE. And over the next 4 weeks it's only going to get better. I wanted to have varying shades of brown, knowing the Vanilla will darken dramatically, and used a deep bronze brown type color for a more tone on tone effect in the finished soap. I love it.

So... looking forward to tomorrow, because today's batch seemed to have left me in a Purple Haze!
